Doug is a founding partner of the firm. He is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal and formerly a commissioned officer in the Royal Canadian Hussars.
He obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 1994. He practices in the areas of criminal law, criminality related immigration matters and child protection law in litigation with the Children’s Aid Society. He is a past president of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, with over a decade of experience on the executive committee. Doug is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association, the County of Carleton Law Association and the Bora Laskin Law Society. He has participated in important government initiatives to modernize and improve our court system and has considerable experience planning and delivering continuing legal education seminars. Doug appears daily in the Ontario Court of Justice, frequently in the Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal when necessary and before other tribunals such as the Ontario Review Board, Immigration Appeal Division and Provincial Offences Court. He handles all criminal and drug charges, from trafficking to murder as well as child apprehensions under the Child and Family Services Act.
